This is the third spring that I've spent observing the woods around my home in western Rutland County, and I have enjoyed seeing familiar flowers appear and finding others that are new to me. Here are just a few of my favorites that I saw this year.

Coverts is an English word dating to the 14th century, pronounced "cuh-verts" (not "coe-verts"). It refers to dense thickets that provide shelter for wildlife.
