Why Support Vermont Coverts?
Vermont Coverts plays a vital role in ensuring that Vermont’s wildlife thrive now and into the future. As a non-profit, we depend on your generosity to fulfill this mission. 80% of Vermont is privately owned. This means that the future of Vermont’s woodlands and wildlife rests in the hands of these landowners. To ensure that our forests and wildlife remain healthy and resilient, we must empower Vermonters with information and resources to enable them to make the best land management decisions. Vermont Coverts was created to do exactly that. A three-day intensive training gives participants an understanding of forest management and wildlife ecology. These graduates, now called Cooperators, bring these concepts back to their land and into their communities. They provide the basis of our peer-to-peer network, sharing these concepts and empowering others. Your support enables this network to grow and the concepts to be shared, promoting the ideals of a healthy forest with wildlife stewardship in mind. Your donation makes all this possible. Thank you! |

Coverts is an English word dating to the 14th century, pronounced "cuh-verts" (not "coe-verts"). It refers to dense thickets that provide shelter for wildlife.
